With its succulent burgers and extensive drink menu, the Beer and Burger Bar on Swan St has firmly established itself as one of Richmond’s must visit food destinations.
Specialising in both elaborate and appetising burgers sourced from local ingredients and a wide selection of beer and ciders, the Bar is perpetually packed out.
Made primarily with brioche buns, their burgers are generously sized and definitely provide value for money. If these portions aren’t enough, however, The Beer and Burger Bar offers a now infamous test for patrons, ‘The Don Challenge’. 25 minutes and 55 seconds, that is all you will have to take on the task of conquering ‘The Don’.
With a 700g house made brioche bun, two 600g beef patties, 16 rashes of bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce, aioli, mustard, ketchup, 400g of chips and two cans of soft drink, this challenge is not for the faint of heart or appetite. If successful you will receive a free meal, a t-shirt and be forever immortalised in their wall of fame. If you can beat the current record of 24 minutes and 20 seconds you can also take home a cash prize of $250!
For those who enjoy the simple things, classic burger options including their ‘Sloppy Joe’, served on a white bread bun and ‘The Captain’ are also crowd favourites.
To accompany your burger, the Bar offers a wide variety of beers and ciders from across the globe, as well as some of the best locally made brews. In total, 40 different options are available on the drinks menu, with numerous beer + burger specials on offer throughout the week.
While you enjoy a burger and a beer the big screens at the Beer and Burger Bar (or the TBBB as it is also known) feature all the big games. The TBBB has become a popular destination for sports fans in the heart of Richmond. Throughout this year’s AFL finals, the bar became a hub for Richmond Tigers supporters.
During this time the TBBB even created its own signature black and yellow Tiger’s themed creation, charcoal bun burgers with a yellow stripe across the top, to celebrate the team’s incredible finals run.
Founded by the father and son tandem of Gabriel and Ryan Kurban in 2013, the bar has continued to grow from strength to strength. With friendly, attentive staff and a cosy environment the Beer and Burger Bar is an ideal place to relax and enjoy a burger and a beverage.
Located at 112 Swan St, it is only a two minute walk from Richmond station and just two doors down from a route 70 tram stop.
